What the Recorders office does:
As an essential part of your local government, the Recorder’s Office is responsible for making a clear and accessible record of and then preserving and protecting the vital recorders pertaining to real estate within Pickaway County. These records include but are not limited to deeds, mortgages, easements, plats and land surveys, power of attorneys, leases, and many lien types that may also encumber your real property. Without the important role and function of the Recorder’s Office, it would be nearly impossible to keep a clear title and a legal foundation for the selling, purchasing and ownership of real estate.
The records kept within the Recorder’s office, dating back to the beginning of Pickaway County in 1810, are public records, apart from Soldier Discharges. Copies of records within our office can be obtained free of charge by utilizing our recording software website or receiving them directly from our office for $2.00 a page per ORC 317.32(G) & (H).
